Members
of the all-black Methodist Church in Kingston, Jamaica.
One of the main battles against the spread of HIV in Ghana and Jamaica is the stigma of the disease. Both countries are highly religious, but at the same time the society is promiscuous.
The church preaches abstinence instead
of protection. If infected by HIV, you could be driven away
from the church, the society and you could be outed.
This Kingston church is unique because
it preaches sexual education as well as abstinence. They
accept the fact that sex does happen, but strongly advise
believers not to do it outside marriage.
