Organic growth

Judging by the popular media's fervour on all things organic, one would think that business would be plain sailing for Andrew, an organic farmer who grows and sells his produce at Spitalfields Market.

Unfortunately, Mother Nature has other plans. She's not getting on with the programme, and Andrew is miffed.

"The courgette split because of the weather we have now," he explained as he displayed his produce to Sojourn Editor.

"We had a wet season, followed by a sunny spell. The water absorbed by the courgette acted like prism, which caused the courgette to expand and split. Ideally, a wet season is supposed to be followed by wind. But we get the sun instead."
