At Snail's
Pace
Pat Crumly spent his time recuperating in Auvergne. While convalescing,
he captured picture-perfect French village life.
Auvergne sits among
breathtaking mountain ranges and dormant volcano peaks.
The highest is Puy de Sancy in Monts Dore, where the Dordogne
flows from.
The region still
retains its agricultural activity, although it is facing
rising costs and dwindling population, like everywhere
else in the world. Auvergne is known for its great dairy
produce.
You won't be disappointed
if you are looking for special gastronomic experience.
According to Pat, a five-course meal can cost around £25
per person. Worth trying is their strong peasant cuisine,
such as poteé Auvergnate (pork with stuffed
cabbage) and various cheeses.
